A new type of cut for a gemstone was introduced by jewelers’ way back in 1960s, setting the stone in the prongs of the ring itself. Immediately after that the new style which is the princess cut engagement ring became widely known and popular.
With its fiery appearance and unparalleled brilliance, many women fell in love with this piece of jewelry. Women were able to draw attention to it more than the traditional round cut of a ring that engaged women wears. Nowadays, prongs that can either support a rounded or a sharp cut gemstone are worn in bands by majority of engaged women.
There is a natural tendency among many women to brag off their rings having that sharp cut gem, which in the end also lures others to want for something that is even more elegant. This wanting in women has created a great demand in the market in which jewelers can’t help but take it to their advantage. It was not long before the market for the item that precedes the wedding band included a line of princess cut engagement rings with side stones. There are a few items from this group that have just but a few stones coming after the large center piece. Some of them have a channel of shining pieces that can be embedded into a silver, gold or platinum band. This is known as a “pave” in a jeweler’s language.
If a gentleman would want to purchase a princess cut engagement ring, he can do it nowadays via the Internet. He can have this shipped and delivered to a different address if he happens to be living with the lady that he wishes to marry. And while doing so, he can actually make an inquiry about each stone’s important aspects such as its color, clarity and weight. Any true gentleman who is going to buy that precious little thing that he will put on the ring finger of the woman he yearns to marry needs to know about carats, too. He must be aware that one carat is equal to 200 milligrams or one fifth of a gram. Finally, a designation of “D”, he should by heart too, indicates a stone with an “icy white” color. Opal engagement rings with diamonds is another ring that is picking up steam in current times.
