Most people use kitchen cupboards to store their dishes. A plate rack can be used to store regularly used plates in a convenient spot on the counter, table, or in cabinets of your choice for easy access.
If you have a small family, chances are you have a set of six to eight plates maximum. It does not make sense to use an entire portion of the cupboard for a few plates, when you can put them on a plate stacker on the counter, or dining table. Some people do not like their plates in the open because the plates might get dusty. If you live in a dusty area, you would want to put your plates in kitchen cabinet plate racks to protect them.
With the amount of kitchen appliances that you need to fit in your kitchen, it is only good sense to use a kitchen plate rack for the plates you use daily. Put them in your dining room, or on your kitchen counters to free valuable cabinet space for your other appliances. Another way you can save cupboard space is by mounting a plate holder on one of the walls. To do this, you will have to first shop for a nice rack that is not too big or small and matches your kitchen decor. Next, survey the dining-room/kitchen area for where the wall mounted kitchen plate rack would fit best. Make sure it does not obstruct your movement, or the movement of any cabinet doors, drawers, etc.
You could also easily make room for your plates on the dining table. You can find very charming lazy susans that have space for silverware and a few plates. If you look around, you can always find ways to save kitchen cupboard space. These are just a few of the many ways you can save space with kitchen plate racks.
