There are a lot of students and workers that are trying to pass time at school or work online.  One of the easiest ways is to find a non-blocked game online and play it.  With the additions of firewalls and site blocking software on networks, this can be difficult sometimes.  So how can you find unblocked games online when you are at school or work?

First, an unblocked game is defined as a game that you can play online, usually through a browser, which is not blocked by your network’s firewall or site blocking software.  If you try to browse to a site that has games you can play, like Yahoo! Games for example, if the site comes up and you can play then it is an unblocked site.  If you receive a message telling you that you cannot access the site, then it is blocked.

But why do schools and work environments blocked games?  This should be pretty obvious, but the main reason is that students and workers playing games at school or work is not very productive for them.  They’d rather you either do your school work or actual work.  Plus, going online to different sites can bring unnecessary traffic onto the network, as well as expose it to viruses.

One way you can get sometimes get around a firewall or network blocking software is to use a paid proxy service.  This costs around $5 a month on average.  Sometimes though, this will not work if the settings to access your browser’s proxy information is unavailable.  So you should check that part of the browser before you even look into this as an option.

Schools and work environments will always want to keep you focusing on the task at hand.  Playing unblocked games online is a good distraction away from your work, but if you do it too often eventually network administrators will pick up where you are spending your time online.  So you will have to constantly adjust to the parameters they put onto the network.  Of course, you could always do what you’re supposed to be doing instead of playing non-blocked games online
