For being one of the smallest rooms in most houses, the bathroom can take a fair amount of effort to get it looking just the way you want it to. There is actually a lot to consider.
You have the fixtures, choosing whether or not to use tile, going with a full bath that includes a shower or simply a shower stall, and of course an overall theme in some cases. People spend thousands of dollars getting things to be just the way they want them to be. Unfortunately, they sometimes for something simple that can make a big difference.
One of the smallest things that often gets forgotten about is bathroom window curtains. This may seem like a silly thing when compared to the “major” components of a bathroom, but a bare window in an otherwise beautiful bathroom will grab the visitor’s attention almost immediately. Bathroom curtains have to be more than just pretty. In some cases, they must serve the function of protecting the windows from the inherently moist conditions of the bathroom. If you live an a house that was built many years ago, there is a good chance that the window frames are constructed of wood. If this is the case, you may want to consider getting some lined curtains as a way to defend against water damage. If you have never considered this as an issue, it might be time to check how well the old windows are holding up against the constant assault of damp bathroom conditions.
Another small thing that can make a big difference in how a bathroom looks is the wall decor. The walls are almost always the last thing decorated in any room. They present great possibilities as an empty canvas for creative interior decorators, but to many homeowners, they appear as a big, boring space that constantly looks like it is missing something. If you are not sure about how you want to decorate your bathroom, start small and simple. You can always add to your decorating. Try something simple like a few inexpensive framed prints and a few accent items centered around the color of the room or some central theme. You can always add on over time and if you start small, you won’t be as likely to find yourself with a bathroom that looks cluttered and unappealing.
