Hanging two layer of curtain has never been easy with double curtain rod. A double curtain rod is simple made of two rods that are held together by a bracket. They are arranged side by side that the inner rod usually hold the lighter curtain, a sheer or liner. The outer rod on the other hand is for the heavier curtain which is usually the focal point of the window. It can also be used for valances. The inner rod for the draperies and the valance being on top occupies the outer rod.
Since these rods will be carrying a heavy load, securing the brackets should be kept in mind. Installation can actually be done without a professional handy man. With a drill and screwdriver as your main tool, you will be able to finish hanging your draperies in around 20 minutes. As a rule of thumb, the rods should at least 4 inches above the window frame and the bracket 2-3 from the edge of the frame to make your window look taller and wider. So mark the wall with your pencil and level it to make sure that the rods are on the same height. If you are sure about it, drill a hole. Place a wall anchor for the screws and screw the brackets. Tighten it to ensure it won’t give in when the curtain are hanging with the double curtain rod. When you’re done with the brackets, put the rods in their respective curtains or valance then hang the inner rod first. After you have secured the first rod, hang the second rod. If your kits come with two rods but of different sizes, the thinner one is for the lighter material whereas the thicker one is for holding the heavier material.
When you are ready to revamp the look of your window and you want to have that 2 dimensional effect, get a double curtain rod. But when you are on a tight budget try wood Venetian blinds, it surely will give a natural look to your windows.
