Are Hot Irons Safe?

June 19, 2011.

Many novice hairstylists are questioning the safety and efficacy of hot ironing devices for the hair. And it is only proper to be concerned about these things as you don’t want to see your tresses on fire when you are using these thermal devices.

So in this article I will explain to you the different attributes that are present in these heating gadgets so that you can decide for yourself if indeed these tools are safe for everyday use.

Let us look at the InStyler hot iron first; this is not like the normal flat iron as it uses a round type rotating barrel in its faculties. When you turn this device on, the cylindrical part will start to rotate continuously until you turn the unit off. During its operation, you need to put a lock of air in between the opening on the unit. But instead of pressing your tresses like in the flat ironing device, this gadget will simply polish your hair by passing a rotating barrel through every strand. So as you can see, the device is not only effective in giving you a curly or straight hair but it is also extremely safe as the heat settings are not applied directly to your hair.

If you opt to use the CHI hair straightener, then you should choose wisely from the different products that it offers. If heat settings are important to you, you should get the digital units as you can adjust the temperature on these gadgets conveniently. The control settings are located just along the handle of the device and you can use a low setting of only 250 degrees Fahrenheit if you want to minimize your hair’s contact with ceramic plates that are too hot. However, this shouldn’t be much of a concern with the CHI products as these are safe; ceramic plates are not like copper plates which are damaging and these can even be helpful to your hair’s condition.

So in reality, there are hot irons that are damaging and there are also those that are effective and helpful in styling your hair safely. The InStyler hot iron and CHI flat iron fall in the safe category and using these will not bring any harm to your hair.
