Starting your own dental practice can be an exciting, and scary, part of your career development. With these 5 things that every dentist should have to advertise their business, you can take some of the worry out of finding new clients and launch your practice confident that you will quickly build your client base.

Each of these suggestions is easy to implement and will cost little to try.

- It is so important that you have a marketing plan in place. Even if you do not have a business manager, you may be able to work with a consultant who can give you pointers on increasing your name recognition and finding new clients. Without this, you will not be able to grow your business.

- Forging relationships with other businesses in your area will help you get business referrals and start relationships with loyal clients. Talk to local doctors and even real estate agents, requesting that they refer service requests to your practice. Exchanging double sided business cards or embossed business card could be the spark of a longer business relationship.

- Find local avenues through which you can advertise. Local newspapers, particularly those that have websites, are a great way to reach out to a targeted audience of those living in your immediate vicinity. Often, they charge little to advertise and reach your idea prospective patients.

- Implement a customer reward or loyalty program. It is not just necessary to bring new clients in, one must also work to maintain relationships with their existing clients. Whether your contact with current clients is confined to appointment cards or a newsletter, keeping the lines of communication open is important.

- Make sure that your practice is well located and clearly marked. Your office itself can advertise for you. Hang a sign that prominently states who you are and what you do, and you may just notice some walk in traffic from the street.
